Standard Quay restaurant: new planning application

A new planning application has been made for conversion of Building No 1 at Standard Quay (which has apparently now become “The Corn Exchange”) to a restaurant and gallery.

The previous application, which attracted numerous objections, was refused and subsequently turned down at appeal, on the grounds of damage to the significance and setting of heritage assets within the terms of the NPPF. The design and access statement for the new application argues that this can be overcome with a number of changes to the design proposals.
