A Neighbourhood Plan is being drawn up for the area surrounding Faversham Creek.
A Neighbourhood Plan is a community-led framework for guiding the future development and growth of an area. It relates to the use and development of land and associated social, economic and environmental issues.
Engaging the community in the planning process is a legal requirement – but how many people in Faversham know anything about it?
The Faversham Creek Neighbourhood Plan is being drawn up by a small steering group of councillors, ex-councillors, planners and consultants. They have been meeting since October 2011. Meetings are not open to the public. Minutes are published about a month later on www.faversham.org
The Neighbourhood Plan is running a year behind schedule. When it has been drawn up, there will be a consultation period. Will the public be able to shape the plan to reflect their own vision – or just be asked to endorse the steering group’s vision?
Let’s talk about the Faversham Creek Neighbourhood Plan.
